3DViewStation Automation Server is a flexible and scalable server-based solution for the automated processing of 3D data, complex 2D and 3D documents, and automated drawing comparisons.
In addition to integrations of the Automation Server in any leading systems, like PDM systems or SAP via a web service (SOA), KISTERS also offers a client for end users, which allows ad hoc use of many of the Kisters Automation Server functions, including conversions of native CAD assemblies into 3D PDF, or the comparison of 2 versions of a drawing. The end user client uses the same server and ensures that enterprise guidelines regarding standardized document creation are complied with.
Standard tasks: 3D conversion, preview image generation, drawing compare
3DViewStation Automation Server covers a broad spectrum of usage scenarios. PDM system-controlled conversions of native 3D CAD assemblies to the internal 3DViewStation format 3DVS, to 3D-PDF or STEP form the basis of its functionality. And 3DViewStation Automation Server processes all tasks with the same high speed and reliability we have come to expect from 3DViewStation Desktop.
The use of thumbnails as preview images for result lists in PLM systems makes much more sense than rendering entire 3D models. These preview images are seamlessly generated as a 3DViewStation Automation Server background task.
One of the most popular features is the automatic comparison of 2D drawings. 3DViewStation Automation Server returns the number of changes plus a PDF document, in which all changes are highlighted using different colors and frames. Comparison sensitivity can be adjusted by the user. Depending on the number of changes found, you may be able to adjust your internal workflows automatically.
Specials: virtual products, structure and text extraction
More often than not, a PLM system may have renderings of individual parts in a native format only, the structure is managed virtually, and is therefore available only in the database. 3DViewStation Automation Server offers a solution for this predicament, by positioning and aligning all required components on the server, and then rendering the resulting structure. The result can be exported in STEP or 3D PDF format.
Sometimes, however, the product structure of an incoming assembly needs to be analyzed automatically, and created as a native version in the PDM system. Not a problem for 3DViewStation Automation Server: a specialist function converts and returns the structure of a CAD assembly in XML format.
